Jinx Series 2011 Match 1 Rolfs Lake 14th May
THAT'S RIGHT IT'S
JINX SERIES
TIME ONCE AGAIN
Well it seems like years since the last JINX match of 2010 although in reality it's only been 9 months (is it really that far back)
Today it's the first match of The JINX Series 2011
And once again all 6 matches in this years series are being fished at
ROLFS LAKE
This year we have 2 new JINXSTERS in the form of Alex Clark and Neil Riddy.
And here we all are in glorious colour

And here we are all paired up for the Pairs
Dave Collier - Terry Goff
Ant Haywood - Mark Burgess
Al Loader - Mat Edwards
Ady Williams - Tony Roberts
Steve Wilson - Dai Thomas
Dave Moore - Geoff Palmer
Simon Mound - Dave Webster
Malc Doyle - Gemma Doyle
Nick Williams - Neil Riddy
Mitch Auger - Alex Clark
Peter Morton - Fred Parker
Nick W-P - Jon Hatch
Kev Loveland - Clive Pritchard
Paul Roberts - Ant Haywood
Today we have 2 reserves fishing in place of Fred and Ant and they are MDers in the way of Pete (crayfishtraps) and Rod (isis).
I WONT bore you with how the series is being run this year as it's the same as last year except that rods are allowed on ALL pegs.
SO LETS GET ON WITH IT THEN
Seeing as i fished the Open last night i was already here this morning as were a few others who had also fished the night match so for match 1
I WAS EARLY.
Liam in his new role as Johns Apprentice before most arrived
He loved it cutting the grass.
With everyone arriving i soon rang the bell at 11am to start the draw and was soon told
YOUR HALF HOUR EARLY
as the draw was not meant to start till 11.30.
So we held off till the proper time then got the draw sorted.
This year Gem has supplied a NEW MINXED HAT as her BEATING PRIZE and to find the first victim of this years series she drew a peg which would carry THE HAT.
The HAT Peg drawn was peg 40 and soon NEW JINXSTER Neil just happened to pull Peg 40
Dont they look sweet together.
With peg 40 gone everyone soon made their draw and Liam drew Peg 36 for me down in the Little Lake.
I've only ever fished the peg once before back in October and was lucky enough to win that day so although it's not the most popular peg in A Section i was not worried as i know it's got as much chance as any other peg.
Once everyone had made their draw Liam and me wandered off to put all the weigh boards on the stations and check all the nets and scales were set.
When i finally got to my peg to set up i sorted out just 2 pole rigs for 3 swims and the feeder.
My Home Peg 36
Main swim was at 6mtrs straight out and was rigged up with a slim JW .2 float to .21 powerline and a 10 animal hook.
My other 2 swims were down the left margin at a top 2 + 1 section distance and a top 2 + 2 sections down the right margin to the aerator, i plumbed around to find an area in each margin that was the same depth so 1 rig would do for both.
The margin rig was a .15 HillBilly float again with .21 powerline and a 10 animal hook.
My bait for today was to be Paste - Paste and more Paste (2kgs of paste actually) feed as always was 4mm fishery pellets (9 bags got fed in the end).
Soon it was time for the all in and Dave Moore on peg 31 done the honours with the shout.
I never took long for any of us in A Section to realise it was going to be one of those "Sulky Saturdays" as i call them when Rolfs shows it's bum to us and
THE OLD JINX EFFECT
kicks in
and it fishes hard.
NOW FOR A PICTURE BREAK AROUND A SECTION
Mitch on Peg 34
Slim Peg 38
Neil on Peg 40
Alex on Peg 2
Guest Pete on Peg 4
Sleepy Simon on Peg 5
Although he did wake up soon
And this 19lb 4oz Common was the result
Dave & Tony on Pegs 7 & 8
Well things never really got started for me as i had 4 bites and landed 2 fish for the grand total of 12lb and last in section so hopefully thats my bad one out of the way for the series.
Mitch had a steady days fishing with a mix of Carp and Silvers to record a section win with 67lb 8oz and also record his PB Perch of 2lb
Liam found the day a little tiresome and had a 2 hour kip.

Well that about rounds up my report so now on to the
RESULTS

PAIRS RESULTS
Well done to Dai for the overall winning weight of 122lb 8oz
(glad to see my Paste worked for someone).
And with Steve being paired with Dai it was no contest as to who was top of the Pairs.
Also well done to Gem for battering 21 of us on the first match.
Big choice for who gets THE HAT on match 2.
Match winner Dai
